Quinta do Tarrio is situated 6km from the center of Barcelos, an antique roman town. The quinta was previously a wine farm but is now producing up to fourty tonnes of kiwi fruit every year. Amongst the approximately seven hectares of land there is a large variety of fruit trees, among others lemons, oranges, clementines, mandarines and tangerines. For leisure there is a tennis court and a fourteen meter long swimming pool. The quinta is situated 15 km away from the coast,  (Esposende, Atlantic ocean) and 55km away from the airport (Oporto). In the nearby region one can visit Braga or Viana do Castelo which are both only 20 km away. Quinta do Tarrio has two natural springs that supply it with high quality  drinking water all year round. Apart from the natural springs there is a 130 m deep well supllying the irrigation system for the kiwi plantage and the pool.
